How can you tell about a shoe..?

if i can fit my index finger between the heel of the shoe and my foot (i'm female--small thin hands), should i go down a size or half a size??? i usually wear an 8 in shoes, but at banana republic, the pumps are too big in an 8. i want to order some more, because i'm too busy to drive out to the mall, so what size should i get? thanks!

A half size probably sounds about right. A good rule is that you want to have a thumb-width space between your big toe and the end of the shoe. Always measure that when standing up, so that your foot is totally forward in the shoe. You definitely don't want to have that much room in the heel, or your foot will rub against the shoe and you will get terrible blisters.
Reply:I am a teenage shoe salesman so I am pretty new, but in my experience most of the time shoes can vary a lot in sizing depending on the country it was made in. I size every single one of my customers because like 8 out of 10 times the person actually doesnt know their actual size. Many different things could cause the problem ur having. You could have a wide foot or a narrow foot for example. You could have a wide foot and if you went down to a 7 1/2, it could be too narrow but correct length. What you really need to do is go to a high end department store or high end shoe store where people know what they are doin and let em measure ya. Then you should order according to the measurement.
Reply:YEA YOU SHOULD GO DOWN A HALF SIZE BECAUSE YOUR FEET SLIDE ANYWAYS IN HEELS
Reply:I would say a half size, based on what you said.
Reply:order a 7 1/2
