I feel like an idiot for asking this but ...what is the part of the shoe(sandal)?

that you foot actually is touching...is it an insole or something.. the part that ususally has the brand name or maby the size of the shoe. I need to get shoes repaired where i have worn them out by rubbing my heel against the shoe. I just dont know what to calll that part of the shoe...lol.....i know im dumb
