High heels - how tall is too tall?

I'm a little over 5'6" and I really, really like the way high heels look. I haven't worn any in a while because I'm afraid I'll be too tall. Now I've fallen in love with a pair of black peep toe shoes with 4 inch heels. http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref...


Will I look like a gigantic monster in these shoes? xD





And just out of curiosity: Would these look good with a white miniskirt (gray pinstripes) and cropped black leggings?





Note: I have no problem walking in heels, and I'm sure that with a little practice I could get back to how good I used to be.

High heels - how tall is too tall?
I am 5'7" and I wear 3.5 to 4 inch heels all the time. Unless you date someone really short I don't think you will look too tall. And I am sure that they would look great with this outfit.
Reply:No size would be to tall as long as you don't think that it is real height...So many women add there 4 in heels to there height and think that they are to tall for a guy because they are taller than him with the heels on, but their Height is not real; if a girl wears heels and this is acceptable, why would it be wrong for a guy to wear platform shoes to make up the height difference? Most women would say that it is wrong for the guy to do this, because it is not his real height, but isn't it the same for the woman? I think that women are so hypocritical in the height thing...

Heels are only too if you can't walk well in them!

Reply:Fact from fiction, truth from diction. You may scare of some guys(maybe that is a plus)but others will know it is the heels and not you that is that tall.





Those shoes, with a black cow or Victorian neck sweater or a dark Gray front button Henley, nixing the leggings would certainly get my attention.

I think as long as you don't wear them all the time, you should be fine. I see those more as "going out" shoes than every day shoes.





Also, I would not wear them to work in an office environment. I think 2 1/2 to 3 inch heels are about the very maximum for an office.





I am having a hard time picturing them with the mini because I don't know what kind of top you are putting with it, but I think they would be very cute with the leggings.





I also think they would be cute with a retro dress--something with a 50s or Rockabilly vibe.
Reply:Hey there! If you want to wear those heels with your miniskirt, GO FOR IT! If you feel good about yourself then it doesn't matter what anyone else may say or think!


When I go out on date nights with hubby I wear mini skirts with 5" stilettos! Why? Because he enjoys seeing me this way and I have the confidence in myself to pull it off. I also don't care at all what anyone else may say or think. I'm not doing this for their approval.


Go out and get them and have some fun!
Reply:If you wore a 2" or a 3" heel, you would still tower over several other women, so forget the height of the heel.The only thing important is if you are able to walk in them.





I think they loot great with polka dots myself, but if with a skirt, it should have a little volume (frill, tulip, wave) at the bottom, regardless of it's length.
Reply:I love heels and only ever wear them. I'm 5'5, so not much taller than you. Those heels are cute, I like them in red too! I don't know about what you want to wear with them, it's not really my style. I personally don't like the idea of a miniskirt, a white one at that (pinstripes or not). The shoes cover a lot of foot and are somewhat shiny so I would be careful what I wore them with. I reckon those particular heels look sexy in jeans. You could dress it up with an interesting or classic top.

Reply:4 inch heels will be fine for you. Personally i'm only 5'4" so I wear heels every day! But I have a friend who is 5'9" that also wears heels every day, so I think you should wear whatever shoes you want!
Reply:go for it, you will look ok if you are 5'6" My sister-in law is 5'9" and wears them all the time. To me it looks a little od when people over 6' wear them. Don't wear them if you have trouble walking because that doesn't look good either.

If you can walk in them , they're OK .


And those look pretty conservative , so you could wear them with most anything.
Reply:this is a very good question. The rule of thumb is no more then 5% of your overall height. So lets say you were 5 feet you would not want a heel over 6 inches.
Reply:haha i have the same problem. Im around 5 7" and love heels! everyone i know is much shorter than me and i always feel like a gaint.
Reply:when you wear a pair of 4" heels doesn't lift you 4 inches measure the forward part of the heel that is the height you'll gain
