Walking in heels?

For 8th Grade graduation, I'm wearing heels that are about 1-1.5". I can walk in them, but I want to walk in them a little more gracefully.

My mom tells me I should "walk from the hip" but I have no idea what that means. Advice as to what she means and how I can walk nicer in heels?

(btw, the shoes have grips on the bottom, so I won't slide on smooth floors.)

Walking in heels?
why don't you just ask your mom what she means
Reply:its ok, i can't walk at all in heels, that's why for my 8th grade grad, i did not have heels, i'm not sure what your mom means, but i suppose practice might work, it doesn't for me, but then again, i'm a klutz, so yeah
Reply:I would just wear them around the house for a day, first. That way you break them in a lil so that they are more comfortable and that way you practice walking in them too!! Thats what I have always done when I get a new pair of heels. PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!!
Reply:Definately practice. Walk up and down stairs too. When I was learning to walk in heals from my 8th grade graduation, my mom told me to walk pointing my toes outward a little bit. It helped; walking with your feet slightly angled out gives you more balance. And put your heal down first, don't walk on the balls of your feet.
