I have been to a podiatrist and I have a spur on the back of my heel just above the base of my foot. It chipped off and is floating just under my achilles tendon at the back of the heel. I have been given stretches and excercises to do and I am undergoing therapy 3 times a week. I cannot seem to find a good comfortable supportive shoe. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks
What is the best shoe to wear for heel pain for a person who is on their feet all day?
Ew... Don't wear crocs...
Go into any running store and look for a cushioning shoe. You are looking for a shoe that will provide some support to your forefoot and mid sole cause you are now going to walk a bit different. A cushioning shoe has extra cushioning under the heal as well as the forefoot. Stick with something like Asics, Nike, or Saucony
Asics - Gel Nimbus 8 or 9
Nike- Air Pegasus
Saucony- Grid trigon 5 Guide
Reply:beaver creeks, crocs, tennis shoes. also try to go to some type of diabetic foot store. they may be able to help you.
Reply:trainers, the ones with a fairly thick sole, and some insoles (your podiatrist may have given you some, or you can buy gel ones)
I have Plantar Faciitis (very painful) and am on my feet all day. I had steroid injections in the heel which have helped.
Reply:Why did you get the heel spur? Most result from plantar fasciitis (irritation of the tendons along the bottom of the foot). It's often caused by excessive rolling in of the foot as you walk (over pronation) and shoes that support your foot and stop this would help. Walking barefoot or in unsupportive shoes (ie flip flops) can make the problem worse!
I wear orthotics to correct overpronation in all my shoes, and always try to wear shoes even round the house. (Mine was an overuse injury from running). I thought I was doing my feet good walking barefoot, but it turned out to be the opposite.
Try some well cushioned trainers - go to a running shop and explain your problem and they should be able to give you advice on the correct shoe, even if you're not a runner (there was a lady in my local running specialist shop just the other day doing this very thing, and she had no intention of ever running in them!). Don't go to your high street sports shop though, because I find they don't know what they're talking about, and you can't tell what sort of shoe it is just from looking.
Reply:Crocs
Reply:I was at our county fair a couple weeks ago and saw this shoe by Z-Coil..it is a pain relief footwear company...you may have seen these..they look like your walking on a spring. I tried them on and they were very comfortable. Here is the website..www.zcoil.com
Hope this helps...
