Should I wear heels or flats with a cocktail dress?

So im in grade 9..%26amp; my semi-formal is coming up next saturday


I bought this sick strapless dress to wear, %26amp; it comes to my knees.


I %26lt;3 it.


Thing is, I have yet to get shoes.


Im considering heels though im about 5'7 %26amp; my date is 5'9


%26amp; as much as I love how heels look..im just worried about comfort.


I love ballet flats, %26amp; im thinking of just wearing a cute pair of black ones that I already own (this is mostly to save money)...but do flats look weird with dresses?

A cocktail dress usually calls for heels.

I'm definitely a heels girl, but in this case, from the information you gave, I'm going to recommend the flats. Being taller than your date is never a plus, and flats definitely don't have to be blah. Wear peep-toe flats to give it some oomph if you're worried that they'll be too simple. If you're still leaning towards heels, I don't blame you. Girls just love heels. In that case, try kitten heels. They're fun, comfortable, and just a little sexy.





Oh, and have fun at the formal!

Reply:flats do not look weird with dresses. both flats and heels are extremely cute. get what you think looks best. if it were me, i would start out the night in heels, and have flats in my purse, cos heels get to blistering me!! you can get some simple cute flats at payless for $9. theyre good to have anyway.

Reply:i say go with the flats. i'm in the 11th grade and in every school dance i've been to most girls kick off their heels the minute they get there. maybe it's just my school, our dances aren't that formal anyway. but it'll probably be dark at the dance so no one would be able to see your flats. as long as you like your flats and it makes you feel good about it. it shouldn't matter what you wear. i'd go for comfort any day. besides you could use the argument that you can't wear heels because your date isn't tall enough if anyone thinks you're weird for not wearing heels.
