Is it okay to wear knee high boots with 2 to 3 inch heels for ballroom dancing?

I have been ballroom dancing for about half a decade now and I find dancing in high heeled shoes with minimal padding very tiring, especially if I am dancing for a long time. Lately I have been wearing a dress with a knee length hemline and a pair of gorgeous knee high boots with 2 to 3 inch heel and inside the boots I am wearing a pair of thick padded socks. I find this way, I can dance a lot longer without getting tired. The padded socks really help. I also really love this look. It is comfortable and cute but I am wondering, is this attire appropriate for semi-formal ballroom events?

OK but not comfortable. But hey if you say it's comfortable - go for it. You might want to take'em to the shoe repair shop and glue the chrome leather on the bottom. This will provide the right traction. Many studios will be concerned if your boots are not leaving black marks on the floor. But with chrome leather on the bottom it should be totally fine.

May I suggest dance shoes with better sole padding - I don't know what you wore before, but Supadance and Stephanie have pretty good padding. Many people add gel pads inside the shoe. You can buy those at Walmart or at drug stores.
Reply:HEY YOU LIKED IT , YOU FELT COMFORTABLE YOU WEAR IT.DONT THINK OF OTHER PEOPLE'S THINKING .IF YOU GO WITH CONFIDENCE YOU WILL LOOK BEAUTIFUL ANYWHERE AND ANYHOW.WHERE WHAT YOU WANT TO NOT.NOT WHAT OTHERS WANT YOU TO WEAR.

ALL THE BEST.
Reply:I'd say its ok for practice, but not for an event.
Reply:As a long time ballroom dance instructor, I can say this about ballroom attire. If your knee high boots look elegant or sexy, if the bottom of the boots allow you to properly glide on the typical hard wood dance floor and they allow you a free range of movement, then they are most definately appropriate for ballroom dances and competitions.

In fact, a nice dress or top/skirt combination matched with a nice pair of dress boots would be unique and unique is good. Most people, especially girls, do not wish to look generic. They wish to have their own unique look. If most people wear high heeled shoes where you dance, go with boots for your own unique look. If most people wear boots, go with high heeled shoes. That is my suggestion. I hope that helped.
Reply:I personally wouldn't like the look. I prefer the look of nice character shoes. But that is just my opinion. If it is comfortable and you won't get marked down because of them, then go ahead and wear the boots.
Reply:Yes, it is a semi-formal event so they want you to be comfortable. If you are more comfortable in your boots than in any thing else just do that. If your moves are gorgeous, no one will care about your shoes and you will still have the comfort of the padded socks. Go Ahead Girl! Can't Nobody Mess WIth YOU!

Reply:it is okay to wear knee high boots for ballroom dancing, but to me, i feel that it is very troublesome to dance sometimes
Reply:I would not unless you are a more advanced dancer.
