How to you prevent your shoes from shoe odor?

I wear heels to work and all of you ladies better not lie, after a while, your feet begin to sweat. If they sweat, then your feet including your heels or shoes will start to smell. The odor starts living in those heels. ewwwwwwwwwww....this is totally disgusting. How do I fix this odor and prevent it? Any tips, ideas, or suggestions....thank you...

Keep your stinky feet out of them. Just kidding, go to the shoe section of the pharmacy and get Kiwi Fresh Force shoe freshener. It works great.
Reply:There's two very effective things you can do - one to decrease the existing odors in your shoes, and the other to make your feet stop sweating - well not sweating so much.

Try sprinkling baking soda in your shoes at night to reduce the odor.

To decrease the sweating, try taking zinc supplements. I know it sounds crazy, but it works. I always wore my shoes out from the inside, if you see what I mean, until I started taking zinc supplements for an unrelated problem. A pleasant and unexpected side effect (and the only side effect) was that my feet stopped perspiring, and my perspiring generally (not to mention body odor) decreased as well.

Zinc has lots of healing properties, and you can't hurt yourself by trying it. Just be consistent and it will begin to work within a matter of days.
Reply:first. I have many pairs of shoes and I rotate them. I wash my feet and use foot powder and I have no problem with odor, never did. I am one one those persons who don't sweat easy. I live in the desert. and that weill make a difference. put your shoes out in the sun to air them. when not wearing them.
Reply:soak your feet in warm tea! 3 times a week, let it soak for 15-20 minutes and your feet will stop smelling! you can even wear tennis shoes without socks and they still wont smell, anyways try it it works, and how bad does a warm foot soak sound after a hard day at work!
Reply:at shoe stores they sell bottles of shoe odor remover/cleaner that you spray on your shoes to make smells go away. also they sell these small odor balls that you put in your shoes while your not wearing them nd they take away shoe odor. what i do with my shoes sometimes is put a sheet of bounce in my shoes after i wear them. works like a charm.

ps. bounce is a fabric softener you put in the dryer so your clothes smells good.

good luck =D
Reply:Firstly, you can buy a foot deoderent spary - i have one.

They don't cost much, just the same as your average under arm sparay.

This is completely unpractical but it's what i've heard and yes - occasionally done.

You could try putting your shoes in the freezer over night. This will kill the bacteria that may be in your shoe and eliminate the odour.

You can also buy shoe spray, you can get these from a shoe store usually, this is basically deoderent again, but for shoes =].

Hope i helped banish smelly shoes forever !!

Haha xxx
Reply:Some shoes, esp. those made of synthetic materials, will cause foot odor problems, I've found, over natural materials. I've also read this as being a problem for many people. I think it has to do with leather being able to absorb perspiration and then breathe and synthetics just causing the perspiration to pool and breed bacteria. So leather shoes with leather insoles is a big step in the right direction (no pun intended).

Wash your feet at least once a day, with soap. Some people say to use a deodorizing soap, and if you don't have problems with skin dryness (on your feet) then that's a good idea. I can't use those; they're too harsh, so I use a Castille, or sometimes Johnson's Head to Toe Baby Wash. You could try washing them twice a day, at least until you get the problem under control.

You can also use foot deodorizer sprays or powders, either on your foot or in your shoe. You can get that kind of thing at the drug store. Shoe trees, made of cedar, also help deodorize shoes, as well as help them keep their shape between outings.

Oh, and rotating your shoes, wearing any one pair no more than every other day, allows them to completely dry out. Bacteria cause odor, and bacteria need moisture. So if you reduce the amount of moisture in your shoe, you will be doing a lot to reduce the probability of odor.

If these easy things don't help, you should see a podiatrist.
